1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Location: Scarboro United Church
The exercise will be facilitated by Rev. Lee Spice and Marilyn Shingoose.
Participants take on the roles of Indigenous peoples in Canada: standing on blankets that represent the land, you will walk through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance. Participants are drawn into the experience by reading scrolls and carrying cards which ultimately determine their outcomes. The exercise engages both the emotional and intellectual levels. A debriefing “talking circle” will follow.
Recommended for youth and adults.
