The proportion of workers that are doing gig work as their main job is the highest in Alberta at 5% reports Statistics Canada. Yet despite this number, no legislation or job action is being taken to protect these workers in the province.

Meaghon Reid spoke with CBC Calgary and explained that a high growth in newcomers may be leading to higher numbers of those doing gig-based work.
