Join us in community during End Poverty Month

Imagining a Calgary free from poverty

1 October 2024

With more than 1 in 10 Calgarians living in poverty, we all have a role to play in building a city where there is enough for all—a city where our income, health, education, childcare, and transportation systems meet our needs.

Mayor Jyoti Gondek has proclaimed October as End Poverty Month to raise awareness of poverty in our community.

Throughout October, Vibrant Communities Calgary will be working to amplify the voices of people with lived experiences and showcase how Calgarians are coming together to reduce poverty in our city.

Join us to learn, engage, and act on poverty reduction in our community:

  • Register for ZineFest—a showcase of art for social change that will bring together community members on October 17—International Day for the Eradication of Poverty—at the Calgary Public Library.
  • Stop by the Create Space at the Calgary Central Library to explore the Enough for All Community Zine Mural, created by Calgarians who want to see a future where there is enough for all. Check out an audio play based on lived experience of people living in poverty, a make-the-month snakes and ladders game, photo wall, kindness tree, and more.
  • Follow @vibrantcalgary on our socials (i.e. - LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok and X
