    About

    Melanie Nicholson is an award-winning communications strategist with close to 20 years’ experience in strategic communications, public and stakeholder relations, and broadcast journalism.
    As a diverse communicator, she is sought after to provide thoughtful counsel, craft compelling narratives, and build critical relationships within organizations. Melanie’s experience as an entrepreneur, as well as in non-profit, post-secondary education, and tourism industries has positioned her well as a strategic business partner. 
    She understands the importance of developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcome and has successfully executed multi-faceted plans for large-scale projects. Working in multiple collaborative communications and marketing teams has given Melanie first-hand experience in the importance of consultation and discussion to determine the best strategic decisions to support the business objectives.
    Melanie is a results-driven communicator who is currently the Communications Lead at Calgary Public Library. In addition, she operates her communications consultancy, serving a broad range of clients throughout Alberta. Previously, she held the position of Public Relations Specialist at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. 
    Melanie has been recognized with a Gold Award of Excellence from the Canadian Public Relations Society, a Gold Quill Award of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators, and an honourable mention from PR Daily’s Nonprofit PR Awards. 
    She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Communications from Royal Roads University and a Broadcast News diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
