Heather Morley is the Chief Executive Officer of Inn from the Cold, leading Alberta’s only shelter and housing organization dedicated exclusively to serving families experiencing homelessness.
Since joining The INN in 2019, Heather has welcomed opportunities and championed change, expanding innovative services and programs for families, and advancing trauma-informed care.
Highlights of her tenure have included:
- Leading a transformational capital project and groundbreaking sector partnership to repurpose vacant office space into an innovative hub of shelter, housing and services for families – the first of its kind in Canada (opened 2022)
- Serving as co-chair of Calgary’s Downtown Safety Leadership Table – a multi-sector initiative tasked by the Mayor in 2023-2024 to develop recommendations for a safer, more vibrant downtown
- Acquisition of Emma House in 2024 – an organization providing transitional housing for pregnant women facing homelessness
- Amalgamation of Brenda’s House family shelter services into The INN in 2025 – consolidating critically needed services with operational efficiencies.
With a career spanning more than 30 years across Canada and the United States, Heather has always worked at the intersection of homelessness, housing, abuse, and poverty. She is known for transforming organizations, strengthening community connections, and fostering spaces where collaboration thrives; she believes the most complex challenges require collective solutions.
In 2022, Heather was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for contributions to the sector. Under her leadership, Inn from the Cold has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Places to Work 2025 by HRD Canada and a Top 100 Charity by Charity Intelligence.
