Parks and community spaces are essential to thriving communities. They improve physical and mental health, strengthen social connections, and contribute to safer, more resilient neighbourhoods, while also supporting tourism, local jobs, property values, and reduced public health costs.
Yet creating and maintaining many of these spaces often depends on community-led fundraising and strong partnerships. Parks Foundation, in collaboration with donors, volunteers, and community groups, is advancing a sustainable and healthy future by creating inclusive parks and sport spaces that help Calgarians of all ages and abilities feel welcomed, more connected, and supported in areas where they live.
Through projects like Canada’s first dementia-inclusive park, we are pioneering innovative park designs and play space designs that expand access to nature and promote the well-being for all Calgarians.
