Calgary Transit plans to increase transit ridership and safety this fall by adding more Peace Officers and inspectors on the train line. VCC's Policy and Research Specialist Lee Stevens comments on the need to also address the root causes of poverty.

"It's a reaction to the problem, not a solution. It's not going to get at the root causes of safety concerns on the C-Train for instance," she said.

More supports for addictions, harm reduction programs and affordable housing are also in high demand.
