When the Enough for All poverty reduction strategy was created, a key recommendation was to create and implement a city-wide public awareness campaign. The goals of the campaign are to inspire Calgarians to learn more about poverty and ultimately to take action to address it.
On January 1, 2015, a task-force was assembled by Vibrant Communities Calgary (VCC) to plan the public awareness campaign with representation from the City of Calgary, the United Way, Momentum, Calgary Economic Development, YWCA Calgary, and more. The task-force was led by volunteer Chair Gisele Danis, Vice President, Marketing at Brookfield Residential Properties.
In December 2015, the Calgary Foundation approved a $300,000 grant to implement the public awareness campaign in two phases over two years (2016-17). As the plan was created and moved into its implementation planning phases, generous pro-bono support came to the table from many of Calgary’s best creative agencies. These include: Evans Hunt, C&B Advertising, V-Strategies, Anstice Communications, and North Strategic.
