The federal government announced the latest phase of the Canadian Dental Care Plan which provides oral health care for eligible Canadian residents with an annual adjusted family net income of less than $90,000 who do not have access to dental insurance. The plan is expected to help about 9 million Canadians in its first year.

Meaghon Reid discussed the plan with CBC's Colleen Underwood, saying that anything to help reduce costs in this economy is helpful for families. "[A] difference of $145 a month right now is sometimes the difference between people staying housed and not. So anything that can go towards taking all those costs is important. People just need to be able to reach it easily and quickly and not have to jump through a lot of hoops to do that," Meaghon explained.
