June is National Indigenous History Month and June 14-21 is Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary. It’s a month filled with activities and community connections that can expand your knowledge and help you take actionable steps in truth and reconciliation.
Events in Calgary
- On June 14, participate in the National Indigenous Family Day and Powwow at Enmax Park.
- Honoring Mother Earth is hosting the Aboriginal Awareness Week Opening Ceremonies on June 16.
- Discover Indigenous history through a variety of Indigenous History Month events throughout the month of June, such as an Elder panel and celebrating Indigenous sports heroes, hosted by the Calgary Public Library.
- Participate in the Walk for Reconciliation on June 21.
- Enjoy live music and performances in A Celebration of Indigenous Music and Culture hosted by the University of Calgary at Heritage Park.
