The federal Liberals and NDP have signed an agreement to ensure confidence remains in the government through to 2025. The deal includes seven pieces, including work on a national pharmacare program, affordability, workers’ rights, Indigenous issues, improvements to the tax system and election updates. A national dental program for Canadians living on low incomes is on the table too.
Meaghon Reid said the deal is welcome news: "On the face of it, they look pretty good in terms of helping people live in poverty meets their basic needs — their basic needs being health and housing and childcare. The devil, though, is in the details: are there barriers that are going to exist in terms of accessing these programs?”
