Your Voice, Our Future: What We Understand Report

For over six months, Vibrant Communities Calgary (VCC) connected with Calgarians about what matters most to them for the future of Calgary. VCC engaged more than 5,000 Calgarians through conversations, community gatherings, and surveys, with 1,017 people sharing their lived experiences. VCC listened directly to Calgarians about the challenges they are facing and the changes they want to see.
Through conversations and surveys, Calgarians shared their experiences with housing, employment, food security, health, safety, and feeling included in choices that affect their lives. Direct quotes are found within each section. This is part of a larger effort to ensure that the voices of lived experience are front and centre in the decisions that shape our city’s future. These reports serve as a tool that can help individuals, organizations, and policymakers gain a deeper understanding of lived experiences. These insights can be used to guide action, foster collaboration, and advance a Calgary where there is enough for all.
